What is PTFE tape used for?

PTFE tape, also known as Teflon tape, is a type of non-stick tape made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It is commonly used in plumbing, HVAC, and other applications to create a tight, leak-proof seal between threaded pipes and fittings.

When wrapped around the threads of a pipe or fitting, PTFE tape acts as a lubricant and filler, helping to seal any gaps or imperfections in the threading. This helps to prevent leaks and ensure a secure connection between the two parts.

PTFE tape is also resistant to high temperatures, corrosion, and most chemicals, making it a versatile and durable solution for a range of applications.

In addition to plumbing and HVAC, PTFE tape is also used in various industrial settings, as well as in the automotive and aerospace industries. It can be used to seal fuel and oil lines, electrical connections, and other components that require a tight and reliable seal.
