What effect does over tightening have on 19MM ptfe thread tape ptfe tape?

Over-tightening can have several adverse effects on 19mm PTFE thread tape PTFE tape and its ability to create a proper seal. While PTFE tape is designed to provide a secure and leak-resistant seal in threaded connections, excessive tightening can cause the following issues:
Deformation of PTFE Tape: Over-tightening can cause the PTFE tape to deform or extrude from the threads. When the threads are excessively tightened, the tape can be pushed out of the threads' crevices, leading to gaps in the seal. This can result in leaks and compromise the effectiveness of the PTFE tape.
Reduced Thread Engagement: Over-tightening may reduce the amount of thread engagement between the two connected parts. Insufficient thread engagement can weaken the connection, making it more prone to leakage and potentially causing the joint to fail.
Difficulty in Future Disassembly: Excessive tightening can make it challenging to disassemble the threaded connection in the future. The deformed PTFE tape may bind to the threads, making it difficult to remove and potentially damaging the threads during disassembly.
Stripping of Threads: Over-tightening can lead to the stripping or deformation of the threads on the fittings or pipes. This can result in a compromised connection that no longer holds the PTFE tape securely in place, leading to leaks.
Increased Risk of Tape BreakageTFE tape is a thin and delicate material. Over-tightening can put excessive stress on the tape, increasing the risk of it tearing or breaking, especially if it is wrapped too tightly or stretched during the application.
Uneven Sealing: Uneven tightening of the threads can lead to an uneven distribution of pressure on the PTFE tape, creating gaps in the seal. This can allow liquids or gases to escape and result in leaks.
PTFE tape is most effective when applied with moderate tension and wrapped in the direction of the threads. Properly tightened connections with PTFE tape will create a reliable and leak-proof seal without damaging the tape or the threaded components.
